Unplanned Or Acute Illness

'I would like to see my doctor today'

• Ring between 8:30- 9:00am to make an appointment
• Calls made later on may not be dealt with by your own doctor
• View all telephone numbers

'I need Medical Treatment today'

Ring as soon as you know you need an appointment. You will be offered an appointment in:

• The Rapid Access Clinic
• With a doctor (this may not always be your own doctor)
• With the duty doctor

Planned Or Follow Up Appointments

'My doctor has asked me to come back in two weeks, what should I do?'

Make a pre-bookable appointment as you leave the surgery


'I will be due for a review with my doctor soon'

• Make a pre-bookable appointment with your own doctor
• These appointments are available 4-6 weeks in advance
• These appointments get booked up quickly

'I will be due for a review of my diabetes, heart problem, high blood pressure within the next month'

• Make an appointment with the nurse/doctor
• The receptionist will offer you the next available appointment

How long will my appointment be?

Different types of appointments usually take a different amount of time, but as a rough guide:

• A routine appointment with the doctor is 10 minutes
• An appointment in the duty doctor's surgery may be for 5 minutes only
• Medical examinations and minor surgery require 20- 30 minutes.

If you know that you will require a longer appointment, please tell the receptionist when booking.

Please book an appointment for each patient who needs to see the doctor even if you see the doctor together.

Please remember to ring and cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend.

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses hold surgeries every weekday morning and afternoon. They will help you with immunisations, blood tests (normally done in our phlebotomy clinics) travel advice, ear syringing, removal of stitches, treatment of warts and verrucae etc, as well as running other clinics.
